Balanced Mind Meditation 2016 The Resilient Website Company Our Meditation FAQ 1. Is there any special equipment or clothes required? Yes, comfortable clothes are required as you will be required to sit for an hour. Also should you require them a blanket/shawl for when you are meditating, and a cushion to put your feet on. A bottle of water may be useful. 2. What is meditation? Meditation is a contemplative practice of focused relaxation, which can help to relieve stress and calm your mind and body. The key to all meditation is making time every day to sit, breathe, and connect with yourself and it is this we focus on at Balanced Mind. 3. Is it religious? No. Our groups are not religious, but meditation does have links to all major religions. 4. How will I know if meditation works for me? If the reasons for you starting meditation begin to ease this is a good sign that it is working for you. Your days, or life in general, may begin to flow more easily with less stress. Physical signs such as improved sleep patterns or reduced blood pressure are also good indications that it is working. But, everyone is different and their meditation journey is different. 5. Is it difficult to learn? It is a skill and a daily practise which some find easier than others. The more you practise the easier it becomes. You will not be doing anything “wrong” it may just take time to learn to relax into it. Close Some of the Benefits of Regular Meditation Some of the Benefits of Regular Meditation: Increased Happiness & General Wellbeing, Reduced Anxiety & Stress, Improved Sleep Patterns, Reduction in Blood Pressure, Ability to Cope Better with Day to Day Challenges, More Empathy & Compassion, Improved Focus & Concentration, More Creativity, Improved memory. Stress Management: Almost every job has its own stresses and one in five people suffers from workplace stress. Evidence shows us that the ancient practice of meditation is helpful to such modern ailments. Stress also affects our relationships, not only with work colleagues but with family and friends as well, as we don’t switch the stress off, consequently it infiltrates our home life. In learning to meditate we find space in our lives to sit and be still, seemingly impossible at first but with gentle practice we can learn to unwind and de-stress the mind and body. Insomnia: There is an abundance of evidence that regular meditation can improve sleep patterns, often dramatically. It has been reported that 75% of insomniacs who have started a daily meditation program were able to fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed and consequently improve their sleep quality. It is not just the enormous benefit of getting a good night’s rest that helps us as it has been shown that the very act of meditation itself balances the nervous system and provides a deeper rest than deep sleep, as if you were plugging yourself in to a battery recharger. Health & Wellness Benefits: Research has discovered that in long term practitioners of meditation far more disease fighting genes were active compared to those who did not practice any form of meditation. This is called the “relaxation effect”, a phenomenon that can be just as powerful as any medical drug but without the side effects. What is more the effects of meditation are cumulative and increase with regular practice. Meditation through the Menopause: Practicing mediation during the menopause helps women dissolve the emotional stress that may trigger menopausal symptoms, such as mood swings and hot flushes. Consciously choosing to meditate to help combat the symptoms of menopause can help with a feeling of empowerment, of being more proactive in managing how your body is adjusting to the changes going on within. Feeling Happier & More Optimistic: Meditation has been shown to help us increase how happy and optimistic we feel. By enabling us to recover from upsets more quickly and move on we can maintain a happier balance in life. Also there is evidence that meditation can help improve our ability to focus, our level of alertness, memory, academic performance and creativity – who wouldn’t be happy with that? This links in with the theory that meditation can make you look younger than your age as, if you are feeling happy and optimistic, you are usually smiling, calm and relaxed, and not looking worried and strained. So to be able to remove all those worry lines, without Botox, fillers or surgery, it has to be one of the best cosmetic reasons to start meditating! Close Finding Peace Within The key to our inner peace is exploring meditation. Meditation can be challenging and bring up many emotions. We at Balanced Mind Meditation are accredited, fully qualified teachers guiding you and supporting you on your journey in a safe, secure environment. We give you the opportunity to experience and explore the benefits that have long been proven to make a difference in our daily lives. Happier, calmer, peaceful and more relaxed. As humans we are wired to “hold on”, meditation on the other hand teaches you to “let go”. Life experiences can be challenging at times. Learning meditation will enhance your life, a skill you can tap into any time once learnt. Improving awareness, attention and focus we can help you along your journey with any questions that may arise. There are many types of meditation, we will personally guide you to find ones that suit you. Most people are pleasantly surprised with the results and the potential of finding your true self. You'll find that we run ongoing groups for all levels, no two meditation experiences will be the same as we focus on the present moment and learn to balance our Monkey Minds. “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf” Jon Kabat-Zimm Close Alternative & Holistic Health . Travelling extensively over the last twenty years, our teachers experienced and tested the techniques of many different countries. Travel expanded thie knowledge and developed their teaching skills. Most recently, Jayne has researched, trained and tested 'Energy Field Healing' with outstanding results; discovering how to work with energy, how energy affects us, how to manage energy to positively change the way we feel, and how to release negative energy thought patterns and beliefs. Sheree spent time in Asia exploring the roots of eastern healing techniques specialising in meditation and the power of crystal energy We have a very special private healing/treatment room in Droitwich Spa with the benefit of on-site parking. Following an initial consultation, we will suggest a tailored treatment session or program to ensure your treatment provides you with perfect relaxation and well-being. La Stone Hot & Cold Stone Therapy Crystal Healing Bach Flower Remedies Reiki (Jayne is a qualified Reiki Master) and Advanced Energy Field Healing Close About Sheree Meditation Teacher and Crystal Healing Therapist With a background of working within the NHS and the local Hospice in East Sussex since 1997 (I relocated to Worcestershire in 2007, working in similar roles) it was during my time at the Hospice that I was first introduced to complementary therapies including meditation. After having an on/off meditation practice for many years, mostly because I couldn’t find a suitable group to join, it was in 2014 whilst attending the Holistic Living Course at The Isbourne College in Cheltenham that my own meditation practice “firmed up” and became a regular part of my life. Unable to find a suitable daytime group to join in the Worcester area I soldiered on on my own, still enjoying and benefitting from it, but hankering after the guidance and group energy that regular classes would provide. I often attend day retreats and workshops, I have also travelled to Asia and enjoyed the experience of meditation there as it is such an integral part of everyday life in that part of the world. In early 2015 my long-term friend, holistic practitioner and fellow meditator Jayne and I felt that the way to fill the gap in Worcestershire was to train as Accredited Meditation Teachers ourselves. After extensive research into the current opportunities to do this we found The British School of Meditation based in Cheltenham running a very in-depth, externaly accredited meditation teacher training course. Towards the end of 2015 we both qualified with flying colours and so Balanced Mind Meditation was born! We are now on the BSoM Register of Accredited Meditation Teachers, and as such are required to attend regular CPD training throughout the year, therefore our groups receive up-to-date teaching and ideas that are constantly evolving. One of my other passions is Crystal Healing and as a qualified and insured Crystal Healing Practitioner I offer this service in my private therapy room in Worcester. Close About Jayne Meditation Teacher and Intuitive Holistic Therapist I have been practising different skills in meditation since 2000. During this time I have had experience working in meditation practice in prisons and Hospice witnessing the benefits to wellbeing. In 2014 I had the privilege of travelling to Bhutan on retreat gaining personal insight and wisdom from the teachings of individual and guided meditations. I was so inspired by this journey and the improvement in my own wellbeing i teamed up with my long term friend Sheree to train with the accredited British School of Meditation in Cheltenham. My aim is to teach & share my experience to groups and individuals the benefits of regular meditation to realise and explore their full potential of inner peace and happiness. Most importantly how to meditate correctly under the supervision of fully qualified accredited teachers in a safe environment. I am also a fully qualified insured professional & intuitive therapist and have been a practitioner since 1986. Through my worldwide travel I have experienced, tried and tested many techniques which have been integrated into my therapies. I have discovered how to work with our energy, how energy affects us & how to manage our energy to positively change the way we feel and to tune into our many emotions releasing negative energy thought patterns improving our wellbeing. In previous years I have volunteered my skills as a complementary therapist and family support worker at the local Hospice. I am very much dedicated to my work and i regularly attend CPD training to update my knowledge and skills. I am a Reiki Master, Advanced Energy Field Worker & an Advanced La Stone Therapy Massage Therapist. Most recently I trained in Bach Flower Remedies & HABC Level 2 award in Emergency First Aid at Work. I have created a very special private healing/treatment room in Droitwich Spa with the benefit of on-site parking. All therapies are delivered exclusively by myself. I will suggest a tailored treatment session following your consultation to ensure your treatment provides you with perfect relaxation and wellbeing.
